Modifying Your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Settings for Retirees

In any browser, log into
myapps.microsoft.com
.
Click
your picture
in the upper right-hand corner and choose
View Account
.
Click
UPDATE INFO
in the
Security info
box.
You will be required to authenticate with your default secondary authentication method. Once authenticated, click
+ Add method
.
You will see a dropdown with a list of available authentication methods.
To set up the
Microsoft Authenticator
, choose
Authenticator app
in the list and click
Add
.
The Microsoft Authenticator app is available for
Android
and
iPhone
. Download and install the app and click
Next
.
If prompted,
allow notifications
on your device. Choose to add a
work
account and click
Next
.
With the Microsoft Authenticator app open on your mobile device, scan the
QR code
displayed on your computer screen and click
Next
.
Your mobile device should now alert you to click an Approve button in the Microsoft Authenticator app. Click
Next
.
You will return to the security screen. Your default sign-in method is listed. You can change your default method by clicking
Change
.
Choose your default method from the dropdown list.
Click
Confirm
.
To set up
email
, click
+ Add method
.
Choose
email
in the list and click
Add
.
Input your
non-APSU email address
and click
Next
.
You will receive an email containing a 6 digit code. Input the code and click
Next
.
To set up
an alternate phone
, click
+ Add method
.
Choose
alternate phone
in the list and click
Add
.
Input the
phone number
you would like to use. Choose to have Microsoft
text me a code
or
call me
and then click
Next.
If you chose to have a code sent to you via text, enter it and click
Next
.
Click
Done
.
If you chose to receive a call, press
pound (#)
on your phone when prompted and click
Done
.
