Searching for Software or Files

You can easily locate software or files stored on your computer.

  • On a PC, go to the Start Menu and type your search term into the box that says Search programs and files.
  • On a Mac, press command + spacebar to bring up Spotlight Search.

For example if you have lost your desktop shortcut to Outlook, type outlook in the search bar and it will appear in the search results. If you are searching for a particular file, type all or part of the filename. The computer will search for everything bearing that filename. Search for all files of a certain type by using an asterisk before the file extension (such as *.docx).
