     Check Power at the Lectern

  • Confirm the lectern's main power switch is on.
  • Look for under-desk power strips and ensure their switches are also on.
  • Verify the classroom PC is powered on.

     Check Cables

  • Make sure HDMI or USB-C cables are securely connected on both the lectern and the laptop.
  • If using adapters, reseat them or try another adapter.

 2. Projector or Display Not Showing Anything

     Try These Steps

  1. Select the correct input on the Crestron panel (e.g., PC, Laptop HDMI, AirMedia).
  2. If using a laptop:
    • HDMI: Reseat cable at both ends.
    • USB-C: Ensure it supports video output (not all do).
  3. Wake up the projector/display:
    • Look for a blinking or amber light—it may be warming up.
  4. Check laptops display settings:
    • Windows: Win + P → choose Duplicate or Extend
    • Mac: System Settings → Displays → enable Mirror Display
  5. Check if the projector’s safety switch near the door (if your campus uses these) has been turned off.

    Try These Steps:

  • Make sure the Crestron system is on and input is set to AirMedia.
  • Verify you are on the campus Wi-Fi required for device sharing.
  • Check that you are typing the AirMedia code correctly (case-sensitive on some versions).
  • Restart the AirMedia app or refresh the browser connection.
  • If using a Mac, approve the screen sharing prompt when it appears.

 4. Microphone & Audio Issues (Lapel, Handheld, Boundary Mics)

      No Audio Through Speakers?

  1. Ensure the correct audio source is selected on the Crestron panel (e.g., PC, Laptop,  AirMedia).
  2. Check that the room volume is not just the laptop volume.
  3. Make sure Mute is not enabled on the Crestron panel or microphone.

Lapel / Wireless Mic Not Working?

  • Check the power switch on the transmitter.
  • Verify that the battery is seated properly, or replace it if it is low.
  • Look at the receiver in the rack:
    • Signal bars should move when you speak.
    • If no signal, try the pairing instructions posted on the rack (if available).

      In Teams/Zoom

  • Select the correct Microphone and Speaker device in Settings → Audio.
  • Run the test call or "Test Microphone" feature.

 5. Teams & Zoom Troubleshooting (Camera, Audio, Screen Share)

  • Check if another application is using the camera.
  • In Teams/Zoom:
    • Go to Settings → Video → select the classroom camera.

      Screen Sharing Not Working?

  • Share Desktop instead of individual apps.

  • If on a laptop, disconnect and reconnect the HDMI/USB-C.
  • For AirMedia sharing in Zoom/Teams, select Screen 1 or “Display 1.”

     Audio in Teams/Zoom Not Working?

  • Select the classroom’s Audio device under both Microphone and Speakers.
  • Toggle Mute on and off.
  • Restart the meeting if devices don’t appear.

6. Document Camera (DocCam) Not Working

    Quick Fixes

  • Make sure the document camera is powered on (the indication light).
  • Select Document Camera on the Crestron panel.
  • If using desktop software (e.g., AVerTouch):
    • Restart the application.
    • Reseat the USB cable.
  • Make sure the doc cam lens cap is open, and the arm is upright.

7. No Audio in the Room (Any Device)

    Steps:

  1. Check Crestron volume (raise to mid-range or higher).
  2. Check for muted audio on the device (PC, Mac, laptop).
  3. Ensure the correct Audio Source is selected:
    • PC
    • HDMI
    • AirMedia
    • Camera/Zoom/Teams
  4. Restart the classroom PC if audio devices aren’t showing.

 8. When in Doubt: Restart Sequence

This solves 70% of AV issues.

  1. Restart the classroom PC or laptop.
  2. Restart Teams or Zoom.
  3. On the Crestron panel, press Home → Restart System (if available).
  4. As a last step, power off and restart the AV system from the Crestron controller.

 9. When to Call the Service Desk

      Call if:

  • The projector or display has no lights or signs of power
  • The Crestron panel is completely unresponsive
  • Audio works intermittently or is distorted
  • Wireless mics will not pair, or receivers show errors
  • The classroom camera is not detected at all
  • Cables or equipment appear broken or loose

  • Audio is not muted
  • Volume is raised
  • Teams/Zoom has the correct camera/mic selected
  • Projector/display shows power lights
