Creating a BI Publisher Data Model and Report

BI Publisher Reports are alot like Argos reports in that they consist of a data model for the query and data source and a report that displays the formatted output. First you must log into GovsSuite and navigate to Reports and Analytics. Then click on Browse Catalog to the right. When creating any reports that everyone will be running, you must copy the report and data model to a folder within the Custom Folder. The other folders are for Oracle seeded reports. Do not modify seeded reports. The Custom folder is designed for user created reports.

  1. First step is to create a Data Model select Data Model from the menu on the leftUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. From this screen select the Plus button to add a data source. The most frequent one will SQL QueryUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. You can name your query and select the data source, the HCM and FSCM source are for Finance and HR. The default BI source is for OTBI queries. CRM is not used.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Select ok and the data displays, from this scren you can view data, setup parameters and so forth.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Once you are satisfied with the data, you can use the create report button to create a reportUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. You can use the wizard to guide you or use the report editor. There are lots of options for creating different layoutsUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. In the example shown above there are multiple tabs shown you can have different layouts (PDF, HTML, Excel, CSV)
  8. to get to edit mode, click the gear and say edit report or layout. A report can have many layouts which are presented as tabs.
