1.0 SCOPE:
1.1 This Standard outlines the university's requirements and limitations governing the use of APSU owned computers, software, and technology resources by emeritus faculty, professionals, and administrators who are conducting university related research not funded by grants or performing voluntary work for the university.
1.2 This Standard applies to emeritus faculty, professionals, and administrators who have received written approval from the Provost or a divisional Vice President to engage in university related work following retirement.

4.0 DEFINITIONS:
4.1 Emeritus Individual: A retired faculty member, professional, or administrator approved to perform university related work on a voluntary or non-grant funded basis.
4.2 Sponsoring Unit: The college or department responsible for approving, funding, and supporting an emeritus individuals university related work.
4.3 FOAP: Fund, Organization, Account, and Program code required for university financial transactions.
4.3 University-Owned Device: Any computer, peripheral, or technology equipment purchased and maintained by APSU.
5.0 Standard:
5.1 Approval and sponsorship requirements shall be met prior to emeritus access to university technology resources.
5.1.1 All voluntary or research work performed by emeritus individuals must be approved in writing by the Provost or divisional Vice President.
5.1.2 The Dean or Department Head must agree to fund all required technology resources, including enterprise and specialty software.
5.2 Equipment provision and replacement requirements shall be followed.
5.2.1 All required computers or equipment must be purchased by sponsoring college or department.
5.2.2 If an emeritus individual retains existing APSU-owned equipment, the sponsoring unit must purchase a replacement device to maintain the integrity of the IT Employee Equipment Replacement rotation.
5.2.3 All university owned equipment must comply with the requirements of the SEC-S009 University Owned Device Standard.
5.3 Software licensing and cost responsibilities will be observed.
5.3.1 All software used by emeritus individuals must be properly licensed and paid for annually by the sponsoring department.
5.3.2 A valid FOAP must be provided by the Dean or Department Head for all technology related purchases and renewals.
5.4 Security and compliance requirements shall be enforced.
5.4.1 Emeritus individuals must complete APSU's annual employee security training in addition to retiree annual training.
5.4.2 All devices used for university related work must meet APSU's minimum security requirements.
5.5 Agreement and accountability requirements shall apply.
5.5.1 Emeritus individuals must sign a formal Technology Use Agreement prior to receiving access to university technology resources.
5.5.2 The agreement must include a defined end date for the approved work.
5.5.3 The agreement must include a commitment to return all APSU-owned equipment at the conclusion of the approved work.
5.5.4 Emeritus individuals must acknowledge responsibility for compliance with APSU IT policies and procedures.
5.5.5 Agreements may be renewed based on recommendation of the Department Chair and continued approval of the sponsoring department.
