Setting Up and Using AlertUs Desktop Activator on your Mac

This program provides a discreet way for you to alert the APSU Police to an emergency in your area. Once activated, the emergency message is received in the police dispatch center and university police officers will be dispatched to your location. This is a one-way communication. The dispatcher is not able to send a return message.
Note: For Laptop Users - The Alertus Activator only works on campus when connected to the secure network.
Locate the AlertUs icon in your taskbar.
Right-click (or command + click) on the icon and choose
Settings
.
Fill in the information, making sure to enter the entire building name (not its abbreviation), your entire name, and the entire phone number where you can be reached. Click
Save.
To activate the alert, right-click (or command + click) on the icon and choose
PRESS FOR HELP
.
Choose the
type of emergency
and then enter a
description
. Click
Send Alert
.
You will see a confirmation that the alert has been sent to Public Safety. Click
OK
.
